Benidorm Is Hot In Both Senses Of The Word

The name of Benidorm is derived from the Spanish words for good sleep. I don't know why. There is so much to do here, there won't be time here for sleep.

Benidorm is on Spain's Costa Blanca, known for its white sands. Naturally, it is one of the hottest tourist spots around, both in terms of temperature and in terms of activity. People from all over the world come to experience all Benidorm has to offer.

Families with small children like Benidorm because of its theme park and its water park. However, those without children will find many other things to love about this area. For example, there are three beaches. Playa de Poniente is a more conventional beach with palm trees and plenty of white sands. The Playa de Levante is for the more adventurous: This secluded beach is topless. Playa de Levante is quite near lively spots that offer dance music all day and excellent food. In any case, you can enjoy sunbathing as late as 8:30 p.m.

If you prefer more activity, you will find plenty: You can swim, water-ski, kayak and surf in the Mediterranean Sea or simply walk along the beautiful coast and explore the many private coves.

While Benidorm is known for its lively activity, if your tastes run to more sedate activity, you will find many museums and cultural activities. Benidorm has traces of various peoples from as far back as the Phoenicians. You will be impressed that Benidorm has indeed withstood the test of time.

No matter where you go in Benidorm, you will find excellent opportunities to "people watch." Because of its diverse history, there are many cultures mixing here. You can meet people and sample foods from around the world right here.

However, Benidorm really does have good sleep: There are plenty of excellent hotels in the area, including many right on the beach. The best of these is the Bali, a two-year-old facility that has already received a four-star rating. You will truly rest in the lap of luxury if you stay here. There are many other less-expensive accommodations available as well, in Benidorm and in nearby Alicante and Altea.

Because Benidorm is so popular, don't wait until the last minute to begin planning your visit. This is especially true if you plan to visit in summer. This is the area's busiest season and while you will be able to find accommodations, you will find better selection and rates the earlier you begin the planning process. Many hotels, airlines and car rental companies offer discount packages, some of which include theme park and water park admissions. Be sure to study a variety of packages in order to find the one that best meets your needs.

Your visit to Benidorm will be a trip you won't soon forget.
